A Turkish kitchen on the water
Galata sits right on the Regent's Canal towpath at City Road Lock, with an open view over City Road Basin. Tables spill out onto the water's edge, so a coffee, a plate of börek or a long lunch all come with boats going past.
The food is Turkish and Mediterranean and kept simple: breakfast plates with halloumi, sucuk and olives, homemade börek and pastries from the counter, calamari and grilled dishes later on, plus coffee, smoothies and cocktails from the chalkboards. Guests keep mentioning the staff — Eyup in particular — for making it feel easy.
